Captivating~ Unveiling the Mystery of a Woman's Soul (Book Review)

When I first received the books, Captivating, I was drawn immediately to the beautiful image on the cover. Though I did not know exactly what the book what about, I could not wait to read it and I'm so glad that I did! Captivating is for every woman who has lost the most precious part of her, due to life's situations. Everyone has a past, good or bad.  What happened in life many times frames who we we are today. If your past was one of abuse, you may of learned to be silent and feel that your voice does not matter. If your past was filled with criticism, you may feel that you are not good enough and also judge those around you. Like it or not, our past does effect how we view ourselves. In this book, John and Stasi Eldredge delve into the deep and intimate parts of a woman's life. They share stories from their own past as well as those from others they have met and counselled. Many of us do not want to expose our pasts out of fear, but this book describes that woman were meant to be captivating. It is okay to be the woman that God made you to be and it is okay to take time to heal from old wounds. We were made in the image of God and therefore we should see ourselves as He sees us, which is beautiful. If you have struggled with chains from your past, I highly recommend this book. It is not an easy read, there will times of deep reflection but believe me the unveiling of your soul will be well worth any risk.
