I'm Loving It Friday ~~ Memorial Day

I'm lovin' the fact that I live in the most free nation on the earth. I love those that serve in the military and who fight to keep us safe. I especially love my two nephews who are currently serving in Afghanistan. I hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend and remember those who have fought and who are fighting to keep our nation free.

Captivating~ Unveiling the Mystery of a Woman's Soul (Book Review)

When I first received the books, Captivating, I was drawn immediately to the beautiful image on the cover. Though I did not know exactly what the book what about, I could not wait to read it and I'm so glad that I did! Captivating is for every woman who has lost the most precious part of her, due to life's situations. Everyone has a past, good or bad.  What happened in life many times frames who we we are today. If your past was one of abuse, you may of learned to be silent and feel that your voice does not matter. If your past was filled with criticism, you may feel that you are not good enough and also judge those around you. Like it or not, our past does effect how we view ourselves. In this book, John and Stasi Eldredge delve into the deep and intimate parts of a woman's life. They share stories from their own past as well as those from others they have met and counselled. Many of us do not want to expose our pasts out of fear, but this book describes that woman were meant to be captivating. It is okay to be the woman that God made you to be and it is okay to take time to heal from old wounds. We were made in the image of God and therefore we should see ourselves as He sees us, which is beautiful. If you have struggled with chains from your past, I highly recommend this book. It is not an easy read, there will times of deep reflection but believe me the unveiling of your soul will be well worth any risk.

Loving It Friday

Right now at this very moment, I'm loving that my son is home from college for the summer. I cannot believe that he is entering his third year, it seems like just yesterday he was graduating from our home school. He is 20 years old and most likely this will be his last full summer at home. That means the last full summer of having the whole family living in the same house. I'm not dreading the changes that are coming, but instead loving the time will have to be all together.

Pictures of Ferdinand and Beef

Introducing Ferdinand, yes he is a bull but I highly doubt he likes to sit and smell the flowers. In this picture he is six days old.

This is Beef, he is also a bull and in this picture he is 10 days old.

These two guys are so cute, it is hard to believe that in two years they will be in our freezer. We have raised our own meat before, so I know the reality of it. In the mean time I will feed them, pet them, harness train them, and post lots of pictures for whoever to see.

Simple Womans Day Book

Outside my window... big grey clouds, a little bit of sun, and lots of new green leaves on the trees.

I am thinking... about my daughters graduation and wondering where in the world the time went.

I am thankful for... the years I have had homeschooling her.

From the kitchen... my daughter is making yummy chocolate dipped pretzels.

I am wearing... jeans, an annual lobster boat race sweatshirt from New Harbor, Maine, socks, and sneakers.

I am remembering... my mother, as Mothers Day is fast approaching. Which, I had forgot all about until the other day when my daughter reminded me that it was this Sunday.

I am going... to pick my son up from his second year of college. He will be home for four months. :o)

I am reading… Captivating and The Bone Mans Daughters

I am hoping… that my son gets a job this summer.

On my mind… preparing for my daughters graduation party.

I am hearing... the dryer buzz, again.

Around the house... Shannon is upstairs making snacks, Duncan is doing his math, the kittens are roaming around looking very cute, one of the calves is outside of his house, and all is good with the world.

Noticing that… I need to get to into reading the Word every day.

Pondering these words... "What exactly is love?"
